Baffinland reports presumptive COVID-19 case results confirmed negative

10 July 2020

Baffinland Iron Mines Corporation has received the final analysis of the presumptive employee’s COVID-19 test. We are pleased to report the results from the government-designated testing facility in Ontario have been confirmed to be negative.
As a result, the individual with presumptive COVID-19 and their contacts have been removed from isolation.
Baffinland’s robust pandemic response plan was in full force and proved to be successful in detecting and managing a presumptive positive case.
The dedicated support from all employees in following the protective measures combined with the GuardRX mobile testing regime at our mine site have greatly assisted in keeping our operations COVID-19 free. Baffinland will continue to adjust their risk management approach to benefit the health and wellbeing of our workforce.
We would like to thank Dr. Michael Patterson, Nunavut Public Health’s Chief Medical Officer,
the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) and the territorial government for their guidance and support throughout the management of this presumptive case.
