Message to Diavik Partners – March 22, 2020
Diavik continues to closely monitor the impacts of COVID-19 across Canada and the NWT. There has now been one confirmed COVID-19 case in Yellowknife and as such, we are making further changes to protect the health of our workforce.
Diavik does not have any individuals confirmed with COVID-19 nor have we identified anyone who has been in close contact with people who are confirmed with or undergoing testing for the virus.
Diavik continues to implement precautionary measures to reduce the possibility of transmission of COVID-19 to our site, including additional health screening, enhanced hygiene measures and changes for our employees who live in isolated communities.
In addition to these measures, we are also making the following changes effective immediately:
- Rotation lengths have changed to reduce the amount of traffic to and from site
- The Yellowknife corporate office is now closed to the public and these employees will be working from home
Our approach has been informed by advice from the government and medical authorities to protect the health and wellbeing of our employees and communities.
We are committed to maintaining full production and supporting our workforce to maintain employment, as well as keeping our employees and communities safe from this pandemic, by implementing these necessary precautionary measures against the risk of COVID-19. The health and safety of our people and communities always comes first.
