De Beers Inspired Ice welcomes some of the world's top carvers

NWT Ice Carving Championship part of Long John Jamboree

 De Beers is pleased to welcome some of the finest ice carvers in the world to Yellowknife this week for the fourth annual De Beers Inspired Ice – NWT Ice Carving Championship.

During the event, 11 two-person teams from the NWT, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Ontario, nine American states and Japan will create amazing works of art out of a single block of Great Slave Lake. Teams have 28 hours to create their piece. Prizes are awarded to the top five carvings as well as awards for Artists’ Choice, Public Choice and Media Choice.

INSPIRED ICE SCHEDULE

March 26        12:00 pm – 10:00 pm: Carving Session #1

March 27        9:00 am – 9:00 pm: Carving Session #2

March 28        9:00 am – 3:00 pm: Carving Session #2

                        12:30 pm – 4:00 pm: Media Choice Voting

                        3:00 pm – 4:30 pm: Judging and Public Choice Voting

March 29        Noon: Presentation of trophies on Snow Stage
