Company Mission Statement:
Dogrib Rae Band., Committed to Growth - Using Our Resources Wisely

Brief History of the Company:
Over the past five years , the Dogrib Rae Band has been involved in an integrated community planning process geared towards the establishment of business structures and institutions which would enhance community self-sufficiency. Specifically, the Band’s focus has been on developing community capacity in the area of economic development believing that any strengths, skills and abilities developed there would flow over to, and enhance, all aspects of the Band’s operations.

The Dogrib Rae Band began focusing, in 1994, on developing local and Rae Band owned businesses that would enhance and complement the existing Dogrib Nation regional companies, which are owned jointly by the Dogrib people of all four communities. The Dogrib Rae Band companies have become an important element of the Dogrib Nation’s overall economic development strategy.

The Band’s economic development strategy has been to seek participation in any development, most notably mining, occurring on its traditional lands. Existing capacity short-falls have been addressed by retaining qualified technical resources and by entering into business relationships with reputable and established companies operating in the Band’s field of interest.

The Dogrib Rae Band has made substantial progress towards the creation of a business base which will enable it to take advantage of opportunities flowing from development of its traditional lands. Key to the creation of this business base was the establishment of business relationships and partnerships with established companies operating in specific industry sectors. More, particularly, the Band has established business ventures in the areas of trucking, logistics, infrastructure development, and an alliance in the diamond processing industry.
