Through the release in November 2012 of the NWT & Nunavut Chamber of Mines glossy publication, Mining North 2012, we also released a 2012 Members’ Service Directory.

 

Join the Chamber of Mines! 

Any company, organization or individual with an interest in the mineral industry can join the NWT & Nunavut Chamber of Mines. We currently have over 900 members including mining and exploration companies, consulting firms, a wide range of service suppliers from drilling to aviation companies, expediters, geologists and prospectors, and many others simply interested in supporting our great industry.

 

In addition to knowing that your support is helping the Chamber advocate for your interests, membership in the Chamber allows you to keep tabs on what is going on in the mineral industry. The Chamber publishes regular newsletters and also emails news items to members. If you are engaged in any business in the North, you need to know what’s going on in mining and exploration or you’ll miss out on some exciting opportunities. All northern business, no matter how big or small, or what your focus, is directly or indirectly tied to a healthy and vibrant mining industry, something the NWT & Nunavut Chamber of Mines promotes every day.

Chamber of Mines Events

•  The Chamber organizes Geoscience Forum, the largest northern minerals conference ‘North of 60’ each November. Held in Yellowknife, GeoScience Forum provides an opportunity for the industry to catch up on mining and exploration developments, new geological research results, and  issues the north is facingin general provides a venue for sharing new ideas in the minerals industry.  new ores are being discovered and where, what new technology is being developed, and what kind of. Events include informative talks and meetings, a Trade Show, and the lots of opportunities for conference networking.

• The Chamber also participates in the organization of the Nunavut Mining Symposium held annually in Iqaluit, Nunavut. This Symposium attracts representatives from Inuit organizations, regulatory agencies, various levels of government, and exploration and mining companies. Events include conference sessions, a one-day trade show, hospitality suites, entertainment and a gala dinner and awards evening to celebrate the growing mining and exploration industry in Nunavut.

• Mining Week in Yellowknife is a promotional event sponsored by the Chamber, to celebrate our industry with the public. Held during the second week of June each year, Mining Week allows us to show the public some of what we do and how our industry benefits Northerners and Canadians in general. Combined with the Annual Mine Rescue Competition, events include gold panning, and our BBQ picnic. It’s a fun time with lots of events for young and old alike.
